Inactive means a user has either removed themselves from the program or have been removed by an administrator.  

Active means that a user has signed up, has connected a social network, and no action has been taken to remove them. 

Active (email only) means that a user has signed up but did not connect a social network. These users will only receive emails and are asked to share, but do not currently have a social network connected.
